Well, it actually hasn't been that long this time! Be proud, be very proud!

I just wanted to give quick update about school. It's going very well. I decided to try doing class all in Spanish with 2 of the groups today. It went surprisingly well! I was very impressed with how well they understood (mostly context clues but still!) and how open they were to following directions in a language that they don't speak. It was definitely fun for me (and also pretty rewarding) to communicate and build their confidence. I think that, now they see just how much they understand and I think it encouraged them to be more interested in learning. When I do the class in English, they don't really care that much about the words or Spanish, but when I did the class in all Spanish, they were asking left and right how to say this and how to say that in Spanish. It was fun for me and I'm pretty sure they enjoyed themselves too. They seemed to follow directions better in Spanish than the normally do in English. Actually, come to think of it, they were kind of like pets. You know how people say that dogs don't actually understand the words you say but the voice you use? Well, it seemed a lot like that with these kids. I told one kid to sit down and I'm pretty sure he didn't understand the words but he could tell from my facial expressions and from my tone of voice (and he already knew he wasn't supposed to be standing up anyways!). All in all, it was an interesting experiment and I'm going to try it tomorrow with the older kids (today I only did it was the 1st and 2nd graders). So, that's really all I needed to put on here for now. Check back soon!
